Red patchwork pillow :: Rotes Patchworkkissen

This little pillow was meant to be part of a christmassy series of pillows but I only got round to do it in January and it still is alone, meaning I plan to make another two or three pillows with a nice wintery red and woll and perhaps linen colour palette. But anyway, it was great fun to make the pillow, completely improvised. I especially like the little matryoshka in the centre of the nine patch. I made this block with the incredible fast methos I explained in my tutorial here. I think I caught the patchwork bug again... This time I made an almost invisible zipper closure, very professional!

And look, doesn't it look great together with the Umaro blanket? (more on that in my next post, bare with me ;-) )

Dieses kleine Kissen war eigentlich als Teil einer kleinen Weihnachtskissenserie geplant, um unsere Küchenbank während der Weihnachtszeit zu zieren. Allerdings bin ich erst im Januar dazu gekommen und außerdem ist es bis jetzt auch noch allein, d.h. es sind noch so zwei, drei Kissen in einer schönen winterlichen roten, wolligen und vielleicht Leinen Farbpalette geplant. Jedenfalls hat es großen Spass gemacht, das Kissen zu nähen, völlig improvisiert übrigens. Besonders mag ich die kleine Matroschka in der Mitte des Neunerblocks, den ich übrigens mit der unglaublich schnellen Methode gemacht habe, die ich hier in meinem Tutorial genauer erläutert habe.  Ich glaube, ich habe mal wieder mehr Lust auf Patchwork ;-)  

Diesmal habe ich einen fast unsichtbaren Reißverschluss eingenäht, sieht sehr professionell aus!

Und seht mal, passt es nicht fabelhaft mit der Umaro-Decke zusammen? (Mehr davon dann in meinem nächsten Post, habt Geduld, Mädels! ;-) )

Stripes :: Streifen

This is a jumper that I made for my nephew for Christmas. I had wanted to knit with a yarn with long and soft colour changes for a while and what would be better for this than a small child's sweater? I chose Jawoll Magic 6 ply sock yarn because of the beautiful colours. Unfortunately it was quite hard to photograph them. 

I sort of followed Elizabeth Zimmermann's instructions for a seamless raglan sweater from "Knitting without tears" and made the rest up. And it fits great with just the right amount of space grow in!

Diesen Pullover habe ich fuer meinen Neffen zu Weihnachten gemacht. Ich wollte schon lange mal ein Garn mit langem Farbverlauf verstricken und was waere dafuer besser geeignet als ein Kinderpullover? Ich habe mich fuer Jawoll Magic 6-fach Sockenwolle entschieden, weil die Farben wirklich zauberhaft sind. Ungluecklicherweise lassen sie sich allerdings ganz schwer fotographieren :-(

Ich habe so ungefaehr Elizabeth Zimmermanns Anweisungen aus dem Buch "Knitting without tears" fuer einen nahtlosen Raglan-Pullover befolgt und den Rest einfach ausgedacht. Und es passt perfekt mit gerade der richtigen Menge Platz zum reinwachsen!

On my needles :: Auf den Nadeln

I am currently knitting the beautiful "Umaro" blanket by Jared Flood of Brooklyn Tweed. It is such a great pattern and with 8 mm needles it is a quite satisfying process to watch the blanket grow.

Zur Zeit stricke ich die wunderschoene "Umaro"-Decke von Jared Flood von Brooklyn Tweed. Es ist solch ein grossartiges Strickmuster und mit 8 mm Nadeln ist es ein ganz befriedigender Prozess, der Decke beim Wachsen zuzusehen.

Hello ladies, I hope you all had a nice christmas and a good start into the new year. I just wanted to wish you a happy new year. May it be filled with happiness and joy, lots of new ideas and projects and of course health and prosperity. 

These are two christmassy potholders that I made for my mum and my sister. It was good fun to quilt following the outlines of the centre star.

Dies sind zwei Topflappen / Untersetzer, die ich fuer meine Mama und meine Schwester genaeht habe. Es hat wirklich Spass gemacht, den Sternlinien folgend zu quilten.
